Things that made my Thursday

[Pretty beds of tulips to look at while working out at the stadium]

[Big slices of sheet cake at the Dairy Mart for $0.99.  This one was white cake with cookies & cream icing & it was delicious.]

Obsessed.

I’ve always loved Khloe Kardashian’s house.  When she & Lamar got married & their home appeared in episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, I was smitten.  Though their lives are very different mine & Ben’s, I related in a way.  They were just starting out, making a life together.

I loved that the house was so glamorous.  Deep saturated colors contrasting with lighter shades, lots of shiny things…

Plus I identified with her affinity for jeweled/shiny/leopard, and complete obsession with shoes.

And then I saw this:

&

…and I was OBSESSED.

So, so beautiful.

Read the whole feature here, there are lots more shots of her gorge accessories in different places around her home.

Crossing my fingers for a fab shoe closet for my Louboutin collection…someday! ;)

Wedding Website!

Our wedding website is live & I am so proud!

www.benandbelinda.com

I looked at a million different “free wedding websites” and found absolutely nothing.  Everything was so regimented and you couldn’t do things like pick your fonts.  All you could do was type in a little white box and then hit update.

That’s obviously not enough for me.  Partly because I am the pickiest person ever.  But also because…duh, I do this for a living!  A plain jane wedding website just wasn’t going to be good enough for us (in my opinion.)

My digital design skills are a little lacking so I decided to go with a website builder.  I definitely recommend Wix.com if you’re in the market!  It would be a great site to use to build a portfolio for all you advertising & design people out there.

Happy clicking! :)

Lately…

…I’ve been:

A. busy

B. in a bit of a funk

C. obsessing over beauty items

D. a bad blogger who’s neglected to post at all

E. all of the above

If you’re bad at standardized tests, the answer is E.

But let’s focus on the positive and chat a bit about C.

I’ve said it before, but it makes no sense that I didn’t really have a ton of interest in beauty a few years ago.  I always did my makeup the same and rotated a few hairstyles.  Beauty is such an extension of fashion and can really enhance a look, so it was a strange disconnect.

But now, I’m lots more interested, and try to use different colors/looks/etc. Actually this weekend, I got a new, different shade of blush to try for the first time.  My standby is the universally flattering Nars - Orgasm.  And it’s great, but I’m finding that blush choice can make a big difference in the look.  (To all you serious makeup people out there smacking your foreheads saying ‘DUH!’ - sorry! I had to come to the realization on my own. :) )  So, I’m trying out Make Up Forever in Neon Pink 75.  (Find it here.)  It’s a super shocking pink that goes on rosy when applied lightly.  It’s brighter than Orgasm even when applied very sheer-ly but it’s a good choice when I’m looking for a more ‘visible’ blush.

Of course, my favorite look is a super-sixties look with intense eyes & I’m currently trying to perfect my liquid liner/cat eye skills. Practice makes perfect, but getting tips from YouTube tutorials by makeup artists certainly helps.

Because of this, I recently stumbled across the YouTube channel of ‘daisynation’.   She’s so super cute & sweetly soft-spoken.  I found her through a tutorial on Priscilla Presley’s wedding makeup (aka one of my favorite sixties looks) and then stayed to watch several other videos.

Gorgeous!

I really like that she mixes high end and drugstore beauty because I love Sephora, but I also love being able to find a great product for $5!

View her channel here.  And view the Priscilla Presley tutorial here.

Happy face-painting! :)

(Also, I’m currently trying out steam rollers, figuring out the best way to use them, so more on that later. xo)
